Having a fresh website is vital for Diabetes UK to gain support for campaigns, fund research and help people with diabetes. Their old website had to be upgraded and they needed a provider of web support and development.
Before Netcel could initiate the EPiServer migration project, they needed to see how the Diabetes UK website had been built to date: while EPiServer offers a robust platform for rapid technical development on top of the .NET framework, all agencies follow slightly different practices when putting a website together. Using a copy of the source code and an EPiServer login allowed Netcel to fully understand what would be involved in supporting and developing the site going forward. Netcel recoded the pages, enabled their compatibility and updated the hosting infrastructure.
The agency released completed work at regular intervals from its development server to a secure demo site that Diabetes UK could access remotely. The discovery of bugs in the existing site was a key risk that could have delayed the project and increased costs had careful judgement not been used to determine which legacy issues needed to be fixed along the way and which could be addressed post-relaunch. While Netcel conducted a thorough audit of the site prior to commencing the project, Diabetes UK's working knowledge of the site was equally important in ensuring successful migration. Working closely together was key to the project's success.
Netcel delivered the migration project both effectively and efficiently, allowing Diabetes UK to move forward with a revitalised and fully functioning EPiServer system. Practical understanding of the processes and issues involved allowed Netcel to seamlessly deliver both projects without any downtime. Netcel will continue to serve the ongoing needs of Diabetes UK.
